I must say that I'm surprised at the reaction of the Mexican Government in regard to the USA wanting to build a wall between our border and theirs. The Mexicans are saying if the workers are illegal then make them legal. I'm sure George Bush wants to oblige them, but the vast majority of the USA want the wall.

The Mexicans are another example of cutting ones own throat.

Just like the minorities are undermining tolerance by getting upset at the majority for having a religious observance called Christmas, the Mexicans are undermining any good will towards their illegal workers over here by demanding that we let them in.

To make matters worse, radio stations in Mexico are advising illegal workers who were injured while working in America to sue their American employer. I don't know how they can do that. An illegal worker doesn't have the lawful rights of a legal worker; as such his employment would come down to a contract between the worker and the employer, and I have strong doubts that compensation for injuries incurred on the job were ever discussed never mind wriiten down and notarized. It comes down to the level of a drug trade. If one drug dealer gets ripped off by another, he cannot call the police.

If they want to be called guest workers instead of illegal workers then the Mexican government should start acting like their workers are guests. They should stop making demands. I'm not saying the Mexican government should grovel before the financial majesty of the USA, but they should use a bit of tact. It'll not help the Mexican immigrants one iota by attacking the American sense of right and wrong.

Nobody that I know of in Oregon objects to the huge influx of Mexicans. They don't object because the Mexicans are a family oriented people that have no objection to working for what they get. In fact they are a decent hard working and law abiding lot, but most of all, they are polite. They smile and say excuse me, when it's appropriate, and they slide right into our society so easily it's like they were always here. Sure enough they're not perfect, but what nation or group of people are? Every culture has its bad ones; but on the whole the Mexican good points vastly outnumber their bad ones; they are a socially inclined people, and as such, acceptance toward them is quite naturally the order of the day. However it won't stay that way if the Mexican government keep on insulting our hospitality.

I shouldn't really have to say this. It's the role of a host country to be tolerant to newcomers. It is not the role of the newcomers to judge or be tolerant of the host country.

The host country is what it is. It might sound crude, but if they don't like it then they can always leave. That's the way of things, and it's always been that way. It's a natural law of the human being, it's the way things are. So why is that we as host countries all around the western world are expected to abandon a natural law that is still held in all the countries where people come to us from? Why are we supposed to abandon our historical culture so as to cause no offense to newcomers? And why are we told to allow them to express their historical culture because to do other might offend them?

Am I a bad man for asking these questions?

In the words of a late and great British comedian: "My name is Harry Worth; I don't know why?"

I don't know why his name is Harry Worth either, in fact, I don't know why my name is Walter Hicks, but I still can't help asking the question why? However, questions are not the problem. The problem is that I'm not allowed to express in a natural and free way what my answers are. To do so might cause offense in that I feel a sense of pride in my ancestry. To feel a sense of pride in where I come from is not allowed.

My answer to social questions is not allowed either. I can ask all I want, as long as I only ask myself, and I can answer what I want, but only if I keep my answers to myself.

According to my thoughts, we are only a few steps away from a state of total mind control. I have my reasons for thinking so, but I am not allowed to say what they are, and in my present state of mind I'm not inclined to express what I think. But the time will come. I'll fight by my rules, not theirs, and I'll choose the place of battle. I'll find the high ground and invite them to come and get me.

Then I'll fight with a sure and total belief in right and wrong. I'll scream out my answers. I'll even use a loudspeaker: a bloody great big one that can be heard for miles.

Yer right.

Oh well.

Don't tell anyone I said all that!!!!
